QP CEO says Japan is a very important customer of Qatari LNG, and we look forward to more successful partnerships
DOHA, Qatar • 2 October 2018 – Qatar Petroleum President & CEO Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi began a short working visit to Japan, and talks with senior executives of major Japanese companies on enhancing relations and cooperation in the energy field.
The two days of talks focus on a number of issues related to developing bilateral relations and cooperation with various Japanese customers and partner companies, particularly in the LNG trade. They include high-level discussions with Chairmen, Presidents, and senior executives of a number of Japanese energy, power generation, and shipping corporations and companies as well as financial institutions such as Mitsubishi Corporation, JGC Corporation, JERA, Cosmo Energy Holdings, Cosmo Oil, Mitsui, Itochu, Mizuho Bank, Idemitsu, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Iwatani Corporation, Tohoku Electric, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric, Chiyoda, LNG Japan, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Marubeni, in addition to a number of shipping companies.
Mr. Al-Kaabi hosted today the annual Qatargas reception held in honor of its Japanese partners and customers. He Highlighted Qatar’s commitment to its Japanese partners in ensuring a reliable and safe supply of their energy needs, particularly LNG. He also expressed hope for more future cooperation and fruitful partnerships.
He said “Our special relationship with Japan runs deep in every aspect of our business and our cooperation. We are pleased and honored to hear that the satisfaction of our Japanese partners has always been driven by our reliability and our commitment.”
Mr. Al-Kaabi stressed the importance that Qatar attaches to its reputation as a safe, trustworthy, and reliable energy provider. He said “for more than two decades, we have lived up to our expectation and reputation as a reliable and trustworthy provider. We have met all our commitments and obligations, and delivered every single shipment to every single client around the globe – safely and on time.”
In concluding his remarks, Mr. Al-Kaabi expressed hope for more successful partnerships, and appreciation to all Japanese partners, buyers, shareholders, financial institutions, shipping companies, contractors and all stakeholders for their continued and valuable support, and for their confidence in Qatargas.
The reception was attended by the ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan, members of the Arab and international diplomatic corps, the Mayor of Tokyo, government officials, and senior executives from the energy and banking sectors, a number of Qatari students in Japan, and about 500 invited guests.
Mr. Al-Kaabi is accompanied on the visit and talks by a delegation of senior Qatar Petroleum and Qatargas officials.
