Qatar Petroleum holds “Mustaqbalna” to engage national employees under development as valuable contributors to its future
Qatar Petroleum organized the first event of its kind designed to align Qataris under development with the Corporate’s strategy, business plan, and future direction. The annual event called “Mustaqbalna” (our future) aimed at augmenting QP’s leadership capabilities by targeting nationals under development as valuable contributors to its future. It was designed as an opportunity for all nationals under development to meet leaders from different locations & departments, to exchange experiences, and to build collaborative networking groups as a step towards becoming an integral part of QP growth strategy. The event’s interactive setting enabled participants to address the concerns of nationals under development and what is expected of them. It included a panel discussion where members of the Executive Leadership Team engaged participating new-comers with a holistic view of their role, the main challenges, and the future they hope to shape.Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, took part in the “Mustaqbalna” panel discussions where he gave nationals under development an overview of the past three years and the changes that were introduced to place QP as a global oil and gas leader.Mr. Al-Kaabi gave his insight on what the vision and the strategy mean to QP, and the key challenges in realizing them. He said “we are aware that the way we did business in the past 20 years is not the same way we should in the next 20 years. This is why we dedicated a lot of our efforts to transform this organization so that we become leaner and more agile. We want to be a global organization - one of the best national oil companies in the world.”“We are depending on you as the next generation of leaders to take this corporation into the future,” he told the national employees under development. Mr. Al-Kaabi concluded his remarks by saying: “Qatar Petroleum’s new corporate strategy focuses on developing a highly capable and motivated workforce across the whole organization with special emphasis on Qatari development. Our people are our true strength. There is no doubt in my mind that they are the underlying force behind our current and future success.”The event, which was organized by QP’s Human Capital, was attended by the Executive Leadership Team and selected managers in addition to about 400 Nationals under development. Some of the issues covered in the “Mustaqbalna” presentations and discussions included an assessment of global energy demand, the role of renewables in QP’s strategy, Qatar’s plans to raise its LNG capacity to 100 MTPA, the new QP work culture, and how QP managed to overcome the effects of the blockade in a matter of a few days.
