South Hook Gas Company
The South Hook re-gasification terminal, where LNG is converted from a liquid back to a gas and delivered to UK homes and businesses via the national grid.
South Hook Gas is a London-based LNG-import company that owns 100% of the capacity of the South Hook terminal in South Wales. It is the largest LNG importer in the UK and one of the largest in Europe.
South Hook Gas is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum International (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%). Its prime role is to purchase LNG from the Qatargas 2 project and then sell the gas to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing.
Spare capacity is marketed to third parties and regasification agreements are currently in place with Total, EGL, Trafigura, Chevron and ConocoPhillips. South Hook Gas can meet up to 20% of UK demand, helping improve the UK’s diversity and security of energy sources via effective and flexible LNG import arrangements.
