Subsidiaries, Joint Ventures and Other Investments

The operations and activities of Qatar Petroleum are conducted at various onshore and offshore locations. In addition, QP carries out activities through the following subsidiaries, joint ventures and other investments (all information correct as of October 2009).

Al-Shaheen Energy Services (ASES)

Al-Shaheen Energy Services (ASES) was established in 2006 targeting stronger national participation in the energy services industry, hence becoming the first national services provider in Qatar's energy sector.

H.E The Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy and industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah approved the formation of holding company ASES to study and explore the feasibility of establishing various either wholly owned or joint venture companies to effectively support the current and future energy services businesses in Qatar.

Al-Shaheen Well Services Company (ASWSC), a subsidiary of ASES, was established as a JV Company between ASES and Weatherford. The initial core business services are:

Tubular Running Services

Fishing Services

Rental Tools & Equipment

Directional Drilling Services

Wire-line Logging & Slick Line Services

Collaboration with GE has resulted in the establishment of two joint Venture companies in Qatar: Al Shaheen-GE Oil & Gas Company, with GE Oil & Gas PII Pipeline Solutions; and Al Shaheen/GE Services Company, which performs GE’s aftermarket services of GE oil and gas installed fleet, including the GE service center facilities in Qatar.

The main feature of the scope is an enlarged range of turbine, compressor and auxiliary related equipment services.
