Qatar Vinyl Company was established in 1997 and is located in Mesaieed Industrial City.  

Project completion was achieved approximately 30 months after signing of the EPC Contract, with start up of the facilities taking place during the second quarter of 2001.

The company produces 210,000 t/a of ethylene dichloride, 300,000 t/a of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and 360,000 t/a of caustic soda.

Shareholders are Qatar Petroleum (55.2 percent), Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) (31.9 percent) and French chemicals producer Arkema (12.9 percent).
