The operations and activities of Qatar Petroleum are conducted at various onshore and offshore locations. In addition, QP carries out activities through the following subsidiaries, joint ventures and other investments (all information correct as of October 2009).

Gulf Drilling International (GDI)

Established in May 2004 as the first offshore and onshore drilling company in Qatar, Gulf Drilling International Ltd. (GDI) specializes in the provision of contract land and offshore drilling services to oil and natural gas exploration and production companies.

GDI was formed as a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP, 60%) and Japan Drilling Company (JDC, 40%) in relation to the ownership, charter, operation and maintenance of both offshore and onshore drilling rigs. QP has since exercised its right under the Joint Venture Agreement to acquire up to 25% of JDC’s 40% stake in GDI, taking its total stake in GDI to 69.99%.

Gulf Drilling International (GDI) is registered and incorporated in Qatar.
